President Barack Obama Receives 2017 Centennial John F. Kennedy Profile in Courage Award

Boston MA – Ambassador Caroline Kennedy and her son, Jack Schlossberg, presented the 2017 John F. Kennedy Profile in Courage Award to President Barack Obama tonight as part of the centennial celebration of John F. Kennedy’s birth. Former First Lady Michelle Obama accompanied President Obama to the ceremony. The award presentation was held at the John F. Kennedy Presidential Library and Museum during the Kennedy Library Foundation’s annual May Dinner gala. The evening included a special performance by James Taylor.

New Jersey High School Student Wins National John F. Kennedy Profile in Courage Essay Contest

Boston, MA—The John F. Kennedy Library Foundation today announced that Daud Shad, a senior at Mountain Lakes High School in Mountain Lakes, New Jersey, has won the national John F. Kennedy Profile in Courage Essay Contest for High School Students. Shad's winning essay profiles William Moore McCulloch, a Republican U.S. congressman from Ohio who in 1963, risked his reputation, career, and standing in the Republican Party when he agreed to support civil rights legislation introduced by President Kennedy.

Kennedy Library Foundation Board Chairman Kenneth R. Feinberg to Step Down After JFK Centennial Celebration

BOSTON, MA – The Board of Directors of the John F. Kennedy Library Foundation today announced that Chairman Kenneth R. Feinberg will step down at the end of 2017, which marks the conclusion of the celebration of the John F. Kennedy Centennial. Feinberg, one of the nation's leading experts in mediation and alternative dispute resolution, served as Special Master for the September 11th Victim Compensation Fund and oversaw the distribution of The One Fund Boston for victims of the marathon bombing. He was unanimously elected Chairman of the Board in November 2009 and has served as a member of the Board since 2005. The board will choose Feinberg’s successor in June 2017.

35 Touch Football Games to be Played in Honor of John F. Kennedy’s Centennial

Executive Producer Mark Samels; Series Producer Amanda Pollak; MIT Associate Professor of History Chris Capozzola; and Brandeis University Chair of the Department of African and Afro-American Studies Chad Williams will discuss the legacy of America's entry into World War I.
