Also included in this folder is a transcript of a “Meet the Press” interview with Rostow discussing nuclear weapons, the Soviet Union, Laos, Vietnam, and communism.

Also included in this folder is a copy of a speech given by Rostow on disarmament at the 6th Pugwash Conference held in Moscow. Of note is a letter to Rostow from Massachuetts Institute of Technology (MIT) Professor Leon Trilling regarding the Soviet Union’s space program.

Of note is a draft of a letter from President John F. Kennedy to President Diem. Also included in this folder is a memorandum by Assistant Secretary of State for Far Eastern Affairs Roger Hilsman discussing U.S. objectives in Vietnam, including victory against the Viet Cong and removal of Nhu and his wife, Madame Nhu, from the country; and a memorandum by the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) on the current situation in South Vietnam.
