This folder contains letters sent to Senator John F. Kennedy and members of his staff from various individuals of California, Connecticut, Illinois, and Indiana concerning the role of religion in the 1960 campaign, the prospect of a Catholic president, the distribution of anti-Catholic materials, and support for the Senator’s campaign. Also included are letters regarding Senator Kennedy’s decision not to speak at a memorial service for four interfaith chaplains who died during World War II.
