This folder contains miscellaneous correspondence and enclosures sent to the Council of Economic Advisers by individuals whose last names begin with the letters W, X, Y, and Z. The material is filed roughly in reverse chronological order according to the date of the carbon copy reply. Items include two speeches by Walter W. Heller titled "The Tax Program and Business Investment" (18 February 1963) and "Taxes, Investment, and the Economy" (8 March 1963); a memorandum by Charles A. Weil in opposition to the President's tax message; a memorandum on the civil service in France by Michael M. White; a memorandum on financing of leased equipment by W. S. Whitehead; an article by Walter W. Heller titled "Appraisal of the Administration's Tax Policy," reprinted from National Tax Journal; and another article by Heller titled "CED's Stabilizing Budget Policy After Ten Years." Note that this file contains some misfiled correspondence from 1962.

Wallace titled "What Everybody Wants to Know About Deficit Spending." Note that this file contains some misfiled correspondence from 1962.

Of note is a meeting summary containing the President’s handwritten notes. Also included in this folder is a transcript of a news conference held by White House Press Secretary Pierre Salinger.

This folder contains material collected by the office of President John F. Kennedy's secretary, Evelyn Lincoln, concerning the President's News Conference of May 17, 1962 (News Conference 33). During this press conference President Kennedy answered questions from the press on a variety of topics including the investigation of Billie Sol Estes' involvement in federal farm programs; United States-French political differences concerning the Berlin negotiations and French President Charles De Gaulle's proposal for an independent European nuclear deterrent; the dispatch of United States forces to Thailand; and the situation in Laos. Background materials in this folder consist of briefing papers on domestic and foreign affairs including the economy and the Billie Sol Estes case. Of note are Department of State telegrams concerning West New Guinea dispute between the Dutch and Indonesian governments. The official White House transcript of the press conference and the stenotype transcript of the press conference are also included.

Also included in this folder is a copy of a speech by economist Charls E. Walker titled, “A Tax Cut this Winter? A Suggested Approach.”

The collection also covers Shriver’s role in John F. Kennedy’s 1960 Presidential campaign, his 1970 bid for governor of Maryland, his 1972 campaign for the Vice Presidency, and his 1976 campaign for the Presidency.
