Materials include a letter of recall for Indian Ambassador to the United States Mahomed Ali Currim Chagla and a letter of credence for new Ambassador Braj Kumar Nehru, a memorandum from Special Assistant to the President for Science and Technology Jerome B. Wiesner regarding his meeting with Prime Minister of India Jawaharlal Nehru, and a letter to the President from United States Ambassador to India John Kenneth Galbraith regarding Vietnam. Of note is a letter from Prime Minister Nehru to President Kennedy regarding the situation in Goa. Also included in this folder is a copy of an address by Galbraith titled, “On Criticism in the Open Society,” and an issue of the newspaper Embassy Courier. This folder contains some foreign language material.

Materials concern an appointment between the President and departing Canadian Ambassador to the U.S. Arnold Heeney, the presentation of new Canadian Ambassador to the U.S. Charles Ritchie, and correspondence between the President and Prime Minister of Canada John G. Diefenbaker regarding a nuclear test ban agreement. Of note is a telegram from the President to Diefenbaker concerning the presence of the Soviet Union in Cuba.
