"Al" Simpson of Wyoming debate illiteracy in the United States and the idea of enlisting college students to volunteer as literacy tutors in local schools and adult education centers in return for credit in their college courses. Senator Kennedy calls the idea the Literacy Corps and compares its potential to the Peace Corps. The episode aired on Monday, January 4, 1988, on the Mutual Broadcasting System.
