1943 Tehran Conference in Iran. Seated on the portico of the Soviet Embassy, left-to-right in the foreground, are General Secretary of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union Joseph Stalin, President Franklin D. Roosevelt of the United States, and Prime Minister Sir Winston Churchill of the United Kingdom. Unidentified uniformed officers stand in the background. Mrs. James C. Whittle sent the photograph to Evelyn Lincoln with a letter dated June 1, 1961. A handwritten inscription on the verso reads: "I thought the President might like to have this. I believe it was taken in Tehran or Iran. [signed] Mrs. James C. Whittle."
