Kennedy's secretary, Evelyn Lincoln, concerning President Kennedy's greeting to White House Seminar students at Constitution Hall. In his speech the President welcomes the students to the sphere of public service, addresses several myths regarding government employment, and describes the upcoming summer as an educational experience to learn about the intricacies of government from the inside. Materials in this folder include a memorandum of suggested remarks from Special Assistant to the President and speechwriter Arthur M. Schlesinger, Jr., an outline containing Special Counsel and speechwriter Theodore Sorensen's initials with handwritten notations by the President, and a press copy of the speech, in addition to a program for and a press release describing the White House Summer Seminar.
