Dedication of a monument to former United States Ambassador to Guatemala Lester D. Mallory. A typed caption below the photograph reads, "Gathering of authorities and neighbors of the 'Centroamerica' District in Guatemala City, Guatemala," and identifies individuals sitting left to right in the front row as Guatemalan President Miguel Ydigoras Fuentes (sixth from left), the President's wife Maria Teresa L. de Ydigoras, Ambassador Mallory, current United States Ambassador to Guatemala John Joseph Muccio, and "Turquel Harry R." The following is stamped on the verso of the photograph: "Secretaria de Informacion de la Presidencia de la Republica, Departmento Fotografico, Guatemala, C.A." Chief of Protocol Angier Biddle Duke forwarded an 8 1/2 x 12-inch photograph album containing this photograph with a memorandum dated May 2, 1961, to Personal Secretary Evelyn Lincoln. The Republic of Guatemala created the photograph album to show the "popular respect" paid to Ambassador Mallory.
