This folder contains letters, memoranda, and telegrams regarding the political and social climate in Iran. Topics include the resignation of Ali Amini as Prime Minister of Iran, the possibility of an insurgency against the Shah of Iran Mohammad Reza Pahlavi, land reform, and United States military aid to Iran. Of note is correspondence between President John F. Kennedy and the Shah. Also included in this folder are numerous memoranda of conversations between Robert W. Komer of the National Security Council and Nasser Khan of the Qhashgai tribe in Iran, journalist C.D. Jackson and the Shah, and working luncheons of CENTO (Central Eastern Treaty Organization) Foreign Ministers.
