John A. Ryan and staff members sitting in an open carriage in front of the Brandenburg Gate, Berlin, Germany. Ryan, who served as Chairman of Senator John F. Kennedy's Overseas Committee for Contacting Absentee Voters during the 1960 presidential campaign, is waving his hat, and the others are holding "Kennedy for President" posters. Ryan sent this photograph and other materials pertaining to campaign rallies held in European cities to Personal Secretary Evelyn Lincoln. The following caption is taped to the photograph below the image: "Mr. John A. Ryan and staff members in front of the Brandenburg Gate, Berlin." A stamp on the verso of the photograph reads: "Copyright by and the property of The Associated Press G.m.b.H." An inch-wide strip of paper with two punched holes is taped to the left side of the photograph.
