Physical DescriptionBronze figure of a discus thrower on wooden base. Presented by American Association for Health, Physical Education, and Recreation 1963. Designed by Professor Joseph Brown of Princeton University. Brass plate engraved on base reads: To John Fitzgerald Kennedy, President of the Unites States, in appreciation of his distinguished leadership in improving the health and fitness of American Youth that they be fit to learn, fit to understand, to grow in grace and stature to fully live.

Custodial History NoteItem was a gift from a member of the general public to the President and Mrs. Kennedy received by the Executive Office of the President betwen 1961-1963 and held by the General Service Administration until it was donated to the John F. Kennedy Presidential Library and Museum by the Estate of President John F. Kennedy in 1965.
