Folder Description
This folder contains correspondence between members of President John F. Kennedy's staff, the staff of the U.S. Department of State and other agencies, world leaders and ambassadors, and elected officials concerning space flight in general, as well as specific Project Mercury developments. The bulk of the folder includes congratulatory messages from world leaders and others regarding Commander Alan Shepard's successful suborbital flight aboard the Freedom 7 capsule.
