Description
Sound recording of the radio program "Face Off." Senator Edward M. "Ted" Kennedy of Massachusetts and Senator Alan K. "Al" Simpson of Wyoming debate illiteracy in the United States and the idea of enlisting college students to volunteer as literacy tutors in local schools and adult education centers in return for credit in their college courses. Senator Kennedy calls the idea the Literacy Corps. The episode aired on Wednesday, August 31, 1988, on the Mutual Broadcasting System.
