John F. Kennedy Library Foundation Announces New Board Members

BOSTON – Ronald L. Sargent, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the John F. Kennedy Library Foundation, announced that the Board of Directors unanimously elected the two new members:

Yvonne Garcia, Chief of Staff to Chairman and CEO, Ron O’Hanley & Global Head of Communications and CEO Experience Program, State Street Corporation; and Karen S. Lynch, President and CEO, CVS Health.

“President Kennedy called for bold leadership to take us to the New Frontier of the 1960s and beyond and I’m pleased to announce these two bold leaders who will help serve his legacy through the JFK Library Foundation’s Board of Directors,” said Sargent. “Our newly elected board members are committed to ensure President Kennedy’s legacy remains meaningful for today’s generations. Their unique voices will be added to an already diverse, thoughtful, and respected group of individuals on our leadership team.”

The John F. Kennedy Library Foundation is a 501(c)(3), non-profit organization founded in 1984 to provide financial support, staffing, and creative resources for the John F. Kennedy Presidential Library and Museum, a federal institution under the National Archives.

About our New Board Members:

Yvonne Garcia is Chief of Staff to Chairman and CEO, Ron O’Hanley & Global Head of Communications and CEO Experience Program at State Street Corporation. Yvonne is responsible for the setting and execution of the Chairman and CEO’s firmwide strategic priorities, the internal communications strategy for State Street, including for more than 40,000 employees globally, executive leadership platforms, and the engagement of the firm’s most strategic clients representing more than $9B in revenue as part of a program intended to gain insights into how State Street can help clients achieve better investment outcomes for those they serve. Prior to this role, she led State Street’s middle office global consulting and onboarding teams, helping with the design and implementation of future state operating models for clients.

As an active leader of local and national communities, Yvonne served as the Chairman for the largest Latino Professional Organization in the country, ALPFA, and is currently Chairman of its National Corporate Advisory Board. She also drove the implementation and launch of Small Business Strong, a nonprofit chaired by State Street Chairman and CEO aimed at providing pro bono support to over 3,000 Massachusetts women and minority- owned small businesses, and currently serves as its Executive Director. Yvonne is also the co-founding Chair of Milagros para Niños, an initiative at Boston Children’s Hospital, which has raised more than $20 million in funds for Hispanic children who cannot afford medical care. Just last year, Yvonne was appointed to Reading Cooperative Bank’s Board of Directors.

In addition, Yvonne was appointed by Massachusetts Governor Maura Healey to serve on the state’s Latino Empowerment Council and also serves on the Executive Committee of the Greater Boston Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors. Yvonne has been featured in Fortune magazine in partnership with ALPFA as one of the Top 50 Most Powerful Latinas in the United States four years in a row, and in 2019 was named to Boston Business Journal’s Power 50. In 2020, Yvonne was recognized by the Boston Business Journal’s Women Who Mean Business, and in 2019, 2020, 2021, and 2022 was recognized by Yahoo Finance on their top 20 HERoes list nationally showcasing leaders who are championing women in business and driving change for gender diversity in the workplace.

Yvonne holds an MBA from Boston University in Finance and Marketing and a BA from SUNY Albany and is a Six Sigma Black Belt. Yvonne was also awarded an honorary degree in Doctor of Humane Letters from Cambridge College in Boston, Massachusetts and most recently an honorary degree in Doctor of Commerce from New England School of Business.

A graduate of Boston College and The Questrom School of Business at Boston University, Karen was awarded an honorary Doctor of Commercial Science from the University of Hartford in 2022 and an honorary doctorate of humane letters from Becker College in 2015.
