Celebrate April Vacation Week at JFK Library with Family-Friendly Programs and Activities

BOSTON, MA – The John F. Kennedy Presidential Library and Museum will offer several family-oriented activities and programs throughout April vacation week, including special discounts, programs, and displays:

Superman’s Mission for President Kennedy – Now on Display through September 1, 2014
A special new display of rare Superman artwork, created by legendary comic book artist Al Plastino and featuring President Kennedy, is now on display in the museum at the JFK Library. The story, told in ten hand-drawn story boards, was written in collaboration with the Kennedy White House in an effort to promote the President’s initiative encouraging physical fitness. The never-before-displayed original artwork will be shown in the Library’s museum through September 1, 2014.

Superman's Mission for President Kennedy: A Comic Book Workshop for Children

Discover your inner artist! In honor of the JFK Library’s new Superman's Mission for President Kennedy display, the Library will host three comic book drawing workshops on Friday, April 25th for children ages 8-11. The workshops will be offered at three scheduled times between 10 am- 2:30 pm (10 am, 11:30 am, 1:30 pm) and registration is required. After the workshop, participants are encouraged to visit the new Superman comic display to complete the experience.

Celebrate! Presents Gould and Stearns – Fee, Fi, Fo, Fun!

On Tuesday, April 22 from 10:30am-11:30am, the comedy duo from Vermont returns with a participatory performance combining clever dialogue, slapstick, mime, and song in this retelling of Jack and the Beanstalk. $2 Off Museum Admission with Special Buzzword

Visit the JFK Library on Facebook or Twitter from April 19-26, 2014 to find the special April vacation buzzword. Visitors who tell the admission desk the Superman-themed buzzword will receive $2 off admission prices. Family-friendly Highlights Tours will be offered throughout the week with paid museum admission.

The John F. Kennedy Presidential Library and Museum’s 25 multimedia exhibits and period settings from the White House offer an exciting “you are there” experience, creating a stirring account of President Kennedy’s thousand days in office. Beginning with a 17-minute film narrated by President Kennedy, visitors step back into the recreated world of the early 1960s and witness the first televised presidential debate; accompany first lady Jacqueline Bouvier Kennedy on her televised tour of the White House; sit in on press conferences with the President; relive the thrill of Col. John Glenn’s first orbital mission; stroll through White House corridors; witness Cabinet meetings during the Cuban Missile Crisis, and observe the president’s televised address from the Oval Office on the Civil Rights crisis.

One of Boston’s most popular destinations for visitors from all nations, the architectural masterpiece designed by I.M. Pei sits on a 10-acre waterfront site on Columbia Point offering panoramic views of Boston’s skyline and Harbor Islands.

General admission to the Museum at the John F. Kennedy Presidential Library is $14.00. Admission for seniors over the age of 62 and college students with appropriate identification is $12.00, and for children ages 13-17, $10.00. Children ages 12 and under are admitted for free.

The Kennedy Presidential Library and Museum is open daily from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with the exceptions of Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day, and New Year’s Day. The Library is located in the Dorchester section of Boston, off Morrissey Boulevard, next to the campus of the University of Massachusetts/Boston. Parking is free.
